CCF CHURCH
EVANGELISTIC SUNDAY SERVICE
3.00PM, 28th FEBRUARY 2010
@5th FLOOR, YMCA STEVENS ROAD
Hear the powerful testimony of Alvero Sanchez as he preaches the Word of God.
Alvaro “The Maestro” Sanchez Bio
Conductor, Guitarist and Harpist Alvaro “The Maestro” Sanchez has wowed audiences worldwide with the sheer poetry of his musicianship both in concert and with more than 20 CD releases.
One of his latest recordings, chill Out, include a very inspiring repertoire of songs played in the passionate style he is famous for.
His life and music was transformed at his encounter with Jesus who called and prepared him as a worship minister to bring the gospel to Heads of States, Dignitaries, Governors, Ministers and Royalties as well as to impact the world and encourage the worshippers worldwide. When it comes to the range of emotions that his playing can stir up, the Maestro claims that his talent is a gift from God:
“I know my music is spiritual because it comes above of my musical understanding and brings both my audience and me a powerful supernatural touch.” Then replies: “Playing has become a pure act of worshiping God, and so my wish is that every performance can act as a bridge to heaven from earth.”
Over the years “The Maestro” has performed as a conductor and soloist, with symphony orchestras, and with many international stars, including Georges Moustaki (Greece), Bob James (USA), Nohorito Sumitomo (Japan), Joaquim Sabina and Luis E Aute (Spain). In addition, he has performed around the world in such countries as the United States, Australia, Israel, Indonesia, China, Italy, Thailand, Japan, France, Spain, Switzerland, and South America.
Alvaro’s concern for the indigenous poor of Colombia and Latin America inspired him along with the Spanish government and famous Spanish folk singer and guitarist, Paco Ibañez, to co-found in September 1993 “The Foundation for the Indigenous Villages of Colombia and South America” (FUNDACIÓN PARA PUEBLOS INDIGENAS DE COLOMBIA AND LATINO-AMERICA). A large concert took place later that year at the ‘El Campin’ Coliseum of Bogotá-Colombia and was broadcast live to more than a billion people in 102 nations.
“The Maestro” graduated with honors from the University of Colombia and continued his studies at the Sorbonne in Paris, as well as in the United States. His education started at age four under the firm hand of his father, Alvaro Senior, a self-taught musician who had him practice for an hour every day. His father not only gave Alvaro basic skills but also shared his passion and love for the guitar and the harp with his young son.
When Alvaro was 11 he was so devoted that his father could not stop him from practicing hours a day. He remembers his first solo concert in his hometown of Tunja in Colombia, South America at 14, and the pride he felt when he saw tears falling down his father’s face; a man he thought he could never please.
By the time “The Maestro” enrolled at the University of Colombia he was already composing music, writing poetry and dazzling audiences with his mastery of classical and flamenco guitar music.
In addition to being a master musician, Alvaro Sanchez is a man of faith, a family man, a minister of the Gospel and a dear friend to many. Besides playing classical guitar, Alvaro loves to play the harp. But, his first love is his guitar. He has made many sacrifices over the years for his music, but when you have the chance to hear his new worship album Chill Out, or any of his other beautiful CDs, or are able to attend one of his concerts, you will understand that the sacrifices he made were worth it, but especially by accepting the sacrifice of Christ is mainly how his music and his life has become a totally new creature. You can hear it in his music.
